Questions about Volans
What new pilots ask before trusting us with their logbook.
Who can see my logbook?
Only you. Your logbook is tied to your own sign-in, and every request is checked so a pilot can reach only their own flights. Volans has no way for your airline, your union, the FAA or another pilot to look at it, and we never sell it or share it with advertisers.
How is my data kept safe?
Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Sign-in is handled by Clerk, so Volans never sees your password. Your logbook is stored with Supabase, and our API, file storage and AI run on Cloudflare. Those three are the only companies that process your data for us.
What do you get from my Google account?
Only your name, email address and profile picture, which we use to create your account and show who is signed in. Volans never asks for your Gmail, contacts, calendar or any other Google data, and you can disconnect it in your Google account settings at any time.
Does AI change my logbook or learn from my data?
No. AI runs only when you start it, by importing a roster or asking the copilot a question. Every leg it drafts is shown to you to review before it becomes a flight, and the copilot answers from your own flights without changing them. It runs on Cloudflare Workers AI, and your rosters and logbook are never used to train AI models.
Can I take my logbook with me?
Yes, any time. Exports gives you your logbook as a PDF, CSV or JSON file, and Settings → Data → Export my data downloads everything we hold about you. Nothing is locked in, and we suggest keeping your own copy as a backup.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings → Data → Delete account and type your email to confirm. That permanently removes your logbook, profile, imports and uploaded files. It can't be undone, so export a copy first if you want one.
What happens to the rosters and files I upload?
They're kept so an import can be checked or re-run, and they're deleted automatically after two years, or straight away if you delete your account. For AI requests we keep only a usage record, never the roster or question itself.
Can I rely on Volans as my logbook?
Volans helps you keep your logbook, and you stay responsible for what's in it. Check imported and AI-drafted flights before you rely on them, and treat currency as a guide rather than a legal determination. Volans doesn't replace any records your airline or the FAA requires you to keep.
I already keep a logbook. Can I bring it over?
Yes. Upload an export from LogTen Pro or flylog.io, or a CSV file from another app such as ForeFlight. Volans maps the columns, shows you a preview and checks the totals against your old logbook before anything is added, and you can undo the whole import later if something isn't right.
What does Volans cost?
Nothing during the beta, and you don't need a card to sign up. We'll tell you well before any paid plan starts, and your logbook stays yours either way. Each pilot has a daily limit on AI imports and copilot questions.
Which devices can I use?
Any up-to-date browser on a computer, iPhone or iPad. There's nothing to install, and you see the same logbook wherever you sign in.
How do I get help or report a problem?
Once you're signed in, open the Feedback tab (also in Settings → Help & feedback) to report a problem or ask for a feature, with a screenshot if it helps. Or email support@flyvolans.com. Tell us the flight and what you expected, and please don't send passwords.
